Agriculture Update, Vol 10, No 2 (2015), Pagination: 120-125Abstract
The investigation was carried out in Dharsiwa block, Raipur district of Chhattisgarh state in 2010-2011, to assess the level of knowledge and extent of adoption of recommended practices of chilli production technology. From the selected block, twelve villages and from each village ten chilli growing farmers who were growing chilli for at least last two years were selected. Data were recorded through interview schedule and analyzed to use appropriate statistical methods. The study revealed that the maximum (38.33%) respondents had medium level of overall knowledge about chilli production technology. Whereas practice wise majority (55.00%) of the respondents had high level of knowledge regarding recommended field preparation, majority (52.50%) of the respondents had medium level of knowledge regarding irrigation management, and majority (50.83%) of the respondents had low level of knowledge regarding recommended weed management, while 43.33 per cent respondents had low extent of adoption about recommended chilli production technology. So far as practice wise extent of adoption is concerned, maximum (32.50%) respondents had high extent of adoption regarding recommended field preparation, majority (50.00%) of the respondents had medium extent of adoption regarding irrigation management and majority (59.17%) of the respondents had low level of extent of adoption regarding recommended weed management practices.Keywords

The study was conducted in Burhanpur District of (M.P) in 2010. The majority of the farmers reported lack of credit in time, followed by non-availability of seeds in time, lack of irrigation facility, unavailability of improved varieties of seeds, lack of training programmes about improved cultivation, insufficient knowledge about plant protection, lack of information in right time, lack of fertilizer in time, non-availability of inputs in time and lack of field visit by extension workers and agriculture officers. The attention should be paid on the constraints faced by sugarcane growers in adoption of recommended sugarcane production technology. These constraints need to be highlighted and dealt with by the concerned authorities and departments so that the constraints can be removed.Keywords

Keeping this view, study was conducted in Chhindwara District of (M.P.) in 2011. Being major orange growing area, the study was conducted in Sausar blocks of the District. Ten villages were selected randomly. List of orange growers of selected villages was prepared. Total 120 respondents were selected with the random sampling method. Out of total 11 independent variables, all the variables namely educational qualification, size of land holding, social participation, socio-economic status, attitude towards new technologies, mass media exposure, extension participation, innovativeness market orientation and annual income were found significantly associated with both knowledge and adoption behaviour of orange growers about recommended orange production technology except age which was found non-significant. Horticulture is prominent sector among agriculture and allied activities as a means of diversification for making agriculture more profitable through efficient use of natural resources. In the horticultural development map of the world, the nature has place our country in a place of pride as it has favourable climate and soils for growing a large number of horticultural crops.Keywords

Study was conducted in Bhopal district of M.P. in 2011. Unemployment and poverty in general is the non-availability of a remunerative work to people who are otherwise worthy of doing such work with requisite efficiency. Government has formulated innumerable schemes and projects, which are in an operation to check growing poverty as a multi-prolonging strategy. The government of India has been launching several schemes for the unemployed in the rural and urban area of the country. The present study is helpful to administrators, policy makers, researchers and banking/financing institutions for making future strategies and also explores the weakness of the present implementations. An overwhelming majority of the poor are in rural areas and continue to depend on agriculture for want of any other livelihood opportunities outside the sector. About 52 per cent of the country's workforce and over 60 per cent of the population depends on agriculture which now accounts for just 17 per cent of the country's GDP, thus, perpetuating rural poverty and widening the rural-urban divide. Economic motivation is the degree to which an individual intends to earn to the maximum extent. Economic motivation has been conceptualized as one's orientation towards profit maximization in farming.

The study was conducted with objective to review the level of knowledge and adoption of improved practices of tomato crop by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Jaora (Ratlam) where most of the farmers are growing tomato crop for commercial purpose. After assessing the training needs, complete package training programme on tomato crop was conducted for selected tomato growers by KVK, Jaora (Ratlam). Majority of the trainees were aware of recent technological advancement about tomato crop. Trainees had better and in depth knowledge of recent know-how about package of practices of crop. The trainees were aware of recent varieties, proper dose of balance fertilizer, irrigation management and weedicides to be applied properly in tomato crop. Impact also reflected that trainees had higher level of adoption of recommended practices of tomato crop than non-trainees.Keywords

The majority of the respondents were middle age group with above middle passed education, large size of land holding, had participation in social organization and having moderate economic motivation and scientific orientation regarding recommended chickpea production technology followed by low sources of information and contact with extension personnel with moderate knowledge level regarding improved chickpea production technology.Keywords

The present study was undertaken to examine the barriers encountered by the farmers in minimization of the technological gap and to find the suitable remedial solutions to overcome the widened technological gap in Katni district of Madhya Pradesh during 2013-14. Information and communication technology (ICT) user farmers confronted the barriers in minimizing the technological gap in agriculture. On the other hand the farmers also suggested that, equipping the farmers with the necessary knowledge inputs” and providing, “subsidized supply of inputs should be on priority basis” would be the best measures to minimize the technological gap.Keywords
